November 1- 12, 2001 -- Work and Play For the first three days of November, we decided to relax aboard the boat and read a book or two. On the evening of the third, we went over to Lady M III for cocktails. We had been invited there when we were in Dehai, Guadaloupe. We took a rain check, and finally we were in the same spot for long enough with them to visit! It was a fun evening. On the 4th, a local guy cleaned the bottom of the boat. He and his brother free dove on the entire bottom! When I went in to check it, the props, shafts and struts looked like we had been hauled and cleaned! The entire bottom looked good. On the 5th, we went into town to look around for a bit. In the evening, we had dinner and drinks at Jaks. This, of course, led to a quiet day on the boat on the 6th. On the 7th, we joined Great White Wonder to visit a friend of theirs named Gordon. He is a Canadian who moved to Margarita about 8 years ago. Right after he moved here, several hotels were starting to do time share deals, as well as permanent residents. So, he purchased a suite where he as lived ever since. We spent the day lounging by the pool. Gordon's place is across the street from the Hilton hotel, where a friend of ours was recuperating after an accident. They had invited us over to visit; so, since we were in the neighborhood, we stopped by on our way for pizza. On the 8th we returned to work. Since redoing our DC electrical panel in Grenada, we have had a list of wires that need to be run, or rerun. We have had the wire run for some time, thanks in part the DC freezer system. We set about actually hooking it up. Sounds like a simple job right? Wrong! After hooking the positive up, we still had to trace out the negative path for the lights. What we thought would be a quick job turned out to take us all day! However, at the end of the day the utility room lights had their own breaker. On the 9th, we went to Off Shore Marine, the other chandlery in Porlamar to see what they had. After that, we went to Rattan for groceries. On our way back to the boat, we stopped by Jak's for lunch before returning to the boat for afternoon naps. Shopping is exhausting work! On the 10th, we relaxed aboard the boat. On the 11th, we went for a day sail aboard Great White Wonder. Gordon's mother-in-law, and a friend of hers were visiting, so Ken and Vesta invited us and Krystalie to join all of them for an afternoon sail. On the 12th, it was back to work. We hooked up the wire for the Engine room lights. It was a lot easier this time since we knew where the negatives appeared, from cleaning up the negatives for the utility room. That evening, we were invited over to Heart of Oak for dinner with Reg and Mo. They are a fun couple and Mo is a great cook!
