August 01-08, 2002 -- Getting Ready for Lisa's and Brian's Visit
August 1-8, 2002 -- Getting Ready for Lisa's and Brian's Visit Mike's daughter Lisa came to visit in August. This gave us a whole new set of to do items to prepare for her visit. We needed to finish removing the wall paper glue for the small stateroom, where Mike's grandson would be sleeping. Of course, since the small stateroom was also our storage closet, we also had to actually find a place for everything that was in there. Carol and Ashley on Blind Date gave us some tips for dealing with younger children. Carol recommended that we purchase some Hot Wheels cars and other toys to give to Mike's grandson on special occasions, in addition to any of the toys we had on board. Mike and I looked around the boat and realized that we had nothing for children to play with. So, off to the store we went. We found some really cool toys and coloring books. The only thing we couldn't find was crayons. . Fortunately, Patti and Mike on Galadriel found crayons for us. We had just enough time to recuperate for a day before Lisa and Brian arrived on the evening of August 8. On the trip back to the boat, Lisa told Brian to look out the window to see what was different about Margarita. We enjoyed his reaction, spurred on by our own comments, about how many things were the same as in the U.S., including McDonalds, Wendys, car dealerships and gas stations. We stopped briefly at Jak's Restaurant to introduce Lisa and Brian to everyone before returning to the boat.
